Glider Givens PDF Print E-mail

Here are few "givens" in looking for a glider:

Never buy a glider at a trade show or exhibition..(Click here for an example.  )

Never buy a glider at a pet store.

Do not buy gliders from a breeder that suggests using harmful devices around gliders. For example, heat rocks are dangerous and not at all appropriate for sugar gliders, and yet this website  fully endorses heat rocks, even extolling their virtues.

If the breeder tells you caring for a glider is "easy" do not buy from that breeder.

If a breeder sells several different species of exotics without having the proper staff to take care of each and every animal according to their needs, do not buy from this breeder.

If the breeder will not let you inspect the facility, do not buy a glider from that breeder.

If the glider is being sold singly for less than $100, do not buy it from that breeder.  A healthy glider from a loving home should be sold for no less than $100.

If the breeder suggests a pelleted diet as the main form of nutrition, do not buy the glider from that breeder.(Click here for an example.  )

If a website refers to gliders as a "product", "livestock" or that they sell for the "pet trade", do NOT buy from that breeder.  (Click here for an example.  )

If a breeder houses glider pairs in cruel housing conditions, do not buy from that breeder.

There are wonderful glider colonizer's out there who prefer to think of adding a glider to your family as an adoption process, rather than a sale.
